Lemonade Mix

My husband became hooked on the sugar free lemonade made by Tropicana. Even though he often diluted it with water because it seemed super sweet to him, he was going through two large jugs of it per day! When they started selling it in smaller containers at the same price, I became highly motivated to create my own version. After some trial and error, I came up with the following blend that is far less expensive and can be customized to your tastes for sweetness and intensity.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon lemon powder
  • 1 teaspoon citric acid
  • ½ cup granulated sweetener *see note*

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together in an airtight container. A pint sized mason jar is perfect for this.
  • To make lemonade, mix two tablespoons of the mixture with 16 ounces of cold water. Pour over ice.
  • Feel free to use more or less of the mixture or to adjust the amount of water and ice to your liking.

Notes

*We use an erythritol and stevia blend for the sweetener. Feel free to use your preferred granulated sweetener or to use a liquid sweetener instead. We’ve had no problems with the sweetener dissolving in cold water, but if you do, try using liquid sweetener.
In addition, these are the ratios that we enjoy. You may need to try using less, or more, sweetener, or using less or more of the mix with water.

Here is a link to citric acid if it’s not something you’ve purchased before; if it’s canning season you can also find it in your local stores with canning supplies.

Kristie uses different brands depending on what she has on hand. Anything that’s an erythritol/monk fruit mix should work well for this. There are other options that could work too – whatever you normally have on hand should work.
