Keto Friendly Hot Chocolate

My grandmother always made the best hot chocolate . She started with cocoa powder and water, and I loved when she made it for me. Sadly, my own children got cocoa mix until we went low carb, and I was determined to make my own. My Keto friendly hot chocolate is essentially my grandmother’s recipe with low carb sweetener instead of sugar. My kids, and their friends, think it is as special as I did, especially when I add a dollop of freshly whipped cream to the top.

INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
8 ounces of water
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon granulated sweetener or 3 drops of liquid sweetener
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1/8 teaspoon instant coffee granules (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:
In a small saucepan, heat 8 ounces of hot water until boiling. Remove from heat. Stir in cocoa powder until completely dissolved. Add in heavy cream, sweetener to taste, vanilla and instant coffee if desired. Return to low heat until hot. Add 1 full teaspoon of instant coffee for mocha flavor.

We hope you enjoy my keto friendly hot chocolate

Kristie, first can I say you book, your blog & your you tube are changing my life in wonderful ways. Your words could be written straight to me personally. I started your 28 day last week & had my peanut butter cookie moment with the sweet Dutch baby this morning!! I’m wondering, what is your take on flavored waters, such as the Ice sparkling waters or using crystal light in your water? And if they are “allowed” do you count them in your water intake for the day or as extras?

Congrats on your success! In general, I drink only water, coffee, unsweetened tea or wine on occasion.
